MVME-147A is a classic 6U VMEbus single board computer developed by Motorola, built around the MC68030 32-bit embedded microprocessor with integrated MMU and separate instruction/data cache, supporting optional MC68882 floating-point arithmetic coprocessor for complex real-time calculation tasks. Equipped with 4MB parity DRAM expandable to 8MB, four 16-bit wide EPROM sockets store boot firmware and real-time operating system (VxWorks, OS-9). The 4KB battery-backed CMOS SRAM retains configuration parameters and runtime data after power loss, paired with integrated real-time clock. It integrates abundant native peripheral interfaces without extra transition boards: four RS232 serial ports for terminal debugging and field device communication, a Centronics parallel printer port, optional SCSI-1 storage interface and Ethernet network transceiver. Two IndustryPack mezzanine slots provide flexible I/O expansion for analog acquisition, digital discrete control and communication modules. The board fully complies with VMEbus Rev B/C standard, supporting full master/slave operation, 7-tier interrupt response and 4-level bus arbitration. Built-in dual 16-bit hardware timers and independent watchdog timer realize automatic system reset when program runaway occurs.
